One of the defining features of the southern slopes of Medvednica mountain, the historical outskirts of Zagreb, is its lack of infrastructure. All of the public and private traffic, including the social infrastructure, is positioned primarily in the north-south axis, while the link between the individual neighborhoods is non-existent. To connect this suburban archipelago, we propose a new type of infrastructure in the form of cable cars, creating a new link spanning the east-west axis and creating an interconnected network while keeping the most valuable part of the region, its forest and meadows, unscathed. Cable car stations would become focal points of individual housing islands, creating social infrastructure and public spaces.
